IGHS and the “Oman International Hospital" invited by Siemens Healthineers Enterprise Services to its Annual Global Meeting · ESAGM
For three days, SIEMENS HEALTHINEERS ENTERPRISE SERVICES organised their annual global meeting, that this year was held in Lisbon, in which IGHS Group took an active part, with its Chairman José Alexandre Cunha speaking about the partnership and challenges of this long and solid relationship.
When the plan to build the Group's first hospital from scratch in Coimbra was publicly shared in 2006, the vast majority thought that the project was too ambitious for this Portuguese city with less than 200,000 inhabitants, and would not be successful, since the region already had other public and private projects to meet the needs of the community.
Even so, taking a different stance and aware of the added value of the project, the commitment to the project and its ambition remained, and half a dozen years later IDEALMED UHC opened its doors.
Based on an innovative concept that combined the uniqueness of its facilities with advanced medical equipment and renowned health professionals, IDEALMED UHC soon received several national and international recognitions that led to unexpected invitations to take part in projects across borders.
From there, IGHS's quest has opened up new horizons in geographies such as Asia or the Middle East, solidifying its presence overboard with cutting-edge projects adjusted to social and economic realities.
Since each project has its own singularities that compels us to personalise its development, José Alexandre Cunha added that "we are committed to create objective and concrete partnerships structured with entities with a global vision" such as SIEMENS.
The Group's Chairman gave as a concrete example the MED ACADEMY, a 10-year project developed by Siemens Healthineers at the Oman International Hospital, the first private health unit in Muscat, with a Portuguese seal of quality.
The overall objective of the MED ACADEMY is to promote the technical and clinical know-how of OIH staff, with the aim of increasing skills for the provision of the best healthcare, in line with the highest quality standards worldwide. The project includes presencial and online training practices, education platforms and symposia.
The current situation is challenging for the health sector, and in this situation the possibility of sharing experiences and acquiring different sources of know-how is fundamental for organisations like IGHS and will be crucial for the development and sustainability of their projects.
In fact, the future initiatives with Siemens are, as José Alexandre Cunha reiterated, “a mirror of the Group's own development strategy”. And since change is a constant premise, building long-term success requires perspicacity, resources and courage.
